The Marlin Model 780 is a.22 bolt-action rifle produced by Marlin Firearms Company of North Haven, Connecticut. Major features include micro-groove barrel, a 2-position safety lever, walnut stock, and 7-round box magazine. Production of the model 780 ended in 1988, and it was replaced by the Marlin 880 in 1989.
The rear is a dove tailed leaf and elevator with a fold down sight. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are medium to dark finish wood with a pressed checkered pattern at the wrist and fore grip. The stock has only a few scratches and dings from light handling and storage. The largest scratch is on the left side of the buttstock near the rear sling mount. Type of Finish: Blue Finish Originality: Original Bore Condition: The rifling is sharp. There no evidence of erosion. Overall Condition: This gun retains about 90% of its metal finish.
The balance of the finish is gone do to light use and storage. The Screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about excellent condition. Mechanics: The action seams to work properly although we have not fired this gun. Box & Accessories: None Our Assessment: This is a great rifle LL around.22 WMR is a very fast and accurate round and still cheep to shoot. This is great rifle for plinking, target and varmint shooting.
